New Dormitory Construction to Begin at Solon Dixon Forestry Education Center

The Auburn University College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment (CFWE) is poised to begin construction on a new 32-room, 12,000-square-foot dormitory at the Solon Dixon Forestry Education Center in 2026. This modern, 64-bed facility will serve as the home for Auburn’s forestry and wildlife summer practicum courses and provide accommodations for natural resource-focused training programs facilitated by federal and state agencies at the Dixon Center.
Representing a $5.7 million investment, the two-story building will replace outdated 1970s-era dormitories and feature contemporary amenities, enhanced privacy and security, and suite-style shared bathrooms. The design also includes a spacious covered patio, creating an inviting space for student collaboration and community. The dormitory is anticipated to be completed by summer 2027.
